Who says your protein shake has to be boring? This recipe has the protein and nutrients you need, thanks to real milk, protein powder and Greek yogurt – but we turned up the fun with The Creamery Root Beer Float 2% Milk and a homemade cinnamon crunch topping. It’s delicious, filling, crunchy, and anything but boring.
Root Beer Float Protein Shake with Cinnamon Crunch Topping
Makes 1 serving
Ingredients for the shake
- 1 carton The Creamery Root Beer Float 2% Milk
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- ¼ cup Greek yogurt
- ½ frozen banana
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ice cubes (optional)
- Maple syrup (optional, to taste)
Ingredients for the cinnamon crunch topping
- ¼ cup granola
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon chopped pecans
- A pinch of sea salt
Optional: Substitute Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal in place of the homemade cinnamon crunch topping.
Instructions
In a blender, combine The Creamery Root Beer Float 2% Milk, vanilla protein powder, Greek yogurt, frozen banana, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth. If you want a thicker shake, add ice cubes and blend again.
To prepare the cinnamon crunch topping, combine the granola, cinnamon, maple syrup, and chopped pecans in a small bowl. Stir until the granola is well coated in syrup and cinnamon. Spread the mixture out on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake 5-7 minutes at 350 degrees, or until the granola is toasted and the nuts are lightly browned. Watch closely to avoid burning. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the mixture.
To assemble, pour the protein shake into a tall glass and top with a generous sprinkle of the cinnamon crunch. Stir in slightly or leave the crunch on top for a fun, layered texture.
